My first meal-Shredded Chicken

The very first thing you are going to do once you've taken the plunge and purchased an Instant Pot is the water test. Don't skip this step. It is crucial to catch any possible defects in your system.  Water test went perfect, now what? You're ready to cook your first meal!! I chose shredded chicken as my first meal in my new instant pot. Yes that chicken truly is FROZEN!  Put the chicken into the pot. Make sure you have the liner in the pot. Putting anything directly into the pot will ruin the appliance.  Add enough water to cover the chicken. Then put the lid on.  Press 'Manual' then the + to 40 minutes  After you have selected the time it is going to change to 'ON'. During this time your Instant Pot is coming to pressure. Once Pressure has been reached it will start to count down. Make sure the pressure valve is turned to 'Sealing'. If the valve is on 'venting' it will not reach pressure. Once ...

I'm going to address a few basic questions about the Instant Pot. Q. What is an Instant Pot? A. An Instant Pot is a kitchen appliance that does the job of 7 other appliances. Most commonly I use the pressure cooker function. However, it is also is a slow cooker, rice cooker, steamer, yogurt cooker, browning/saute pan, and warming pan.  Q. Is the Instant Pot dangerous? A. Not when it's used correctly following all manufacturer instructions. Q. Can I really cook meat from frozen quickly? A. Yes you can! Q. Why would I use an Instant Pot when I can just cook it on the stovetop? A. With the Instant Pot there is no hovering or constant stirring. You can put it in and step away.  Q. Is there only 1 kind of Instant Pot? A. No. There are multiple models, and new ones are released often. Some models are specific to certain stores such as Wal-Mart.  Welcome to Cooking with Keshia!      I am a busy wife, mom, and nurse. I've been cooking since I was old enough walk. However, working full time and the busy schedule of 3 kids, I was struggling to find time to cook. I was introduced to an Air Fryer. It was love at first use. Then, someone introduced me to an Instant Pot. I was so skeptical! One day I caved and gave it a try. Absolutely life changing!      I have been telling everyone I talk to about how much easier dinner time is at our house now with an Air Fryer and Instant Pot. So, I decided to start a blog to share tips and tricks and recipes for the Air Fryer and Instant Pot and also some old fashioned recipes as well.
